Recreational vehicle or RV combines is the term for a motor vehicle equipped with living space and amenities found in a home. It is a camper, equipped with living quarters, utilized for travelling. RVs can either be motorized or towable. Normally, they include a kitchen, bathroom, sleeping quarters and a living room; however the size and shape may vary considerably from model to model.
Motorized RVs are divided into three classes: Class A, Class B, and Class C.
Class A units are the most luxurious of the three classes. They range in weight from 15,000 to 30,000 pounds and are over 30 feet in length. Class A RVs can be recognized by their bus-style shape.
Class B motorhomes generally weigh 6,000 to 8,000 pounds and are 17 to 19 feet in length. They are also known as ‘van conversions’, and usually sleep up to 4 people. They are the smallest of the Motorized RVs. They are constructed on a van chassis and are also known as camper vans.
Class C motorhomes are also constructed on a van chassis, however they are larger and roomier than the Class B, with optional sleeping space over the cab. Class C motorhomes can sleep up to 8 people comfortably, and are between 20 and 30 feet in length. Class C motorhomes are typically more affordable than Class A units, with much of the same amenities.
Towable RVs, or travel trailers can come in sizes as small as 10 feet or as big as 35 feet long, and can sleep up to 8 people depending on the type of trailer. There are six types of towable RVs, with Tent Trailers being the most affordable option. Also known as Folding Camping Trailers, these RVs offer lightweight towing, with the comfort of a more luxurious RV. They can sleep up to eight people at a time. Conventional Travel Trailers come in a wide range of sizes and floor plans, and can sleep up to 10 people. They can also be equipped with expandable ends. Fifth-Wheel Travel Trailers are towed with a pick-up truck, with sleeping quarters extending over the bed of the vehicle. Truck Campers are mounted on the bed of a pickup, and are carried with the truck. They are convenient, because they can go where the truck can go.
